Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms collection is an embodiment of a passion for the marine world. Introduced in 1953, the Blancpain has worked alongside modern divers, scientists, and underwater photographers to make this collection as unique as possible.

Key Features

This ceramic chronograph timepiece has a 43.6mm diameter, 15.25mm thickness, and 51 mm lug to lug distance. The distance between the lugs is 23mm. The timepiece is waterproof up to 300 meters. The case is made of satin-brushed ceramic, which is tough and resistant to scratches, and it is also an anti-reflective material for a clear view at the inside open works.

The Bezel

A green bezel is a new introduction to the Fifty Fathoms collection. The bezel is also indexed with the hour and minute markers made of liquid metal, and it rotates in a counter-clockwise direction with 120 clicks, ten clicks between every five minutes.

The Dial and Case

The Fifty Fathoms series has moved from black to meteor gray, to blue dials, and now a green dial. The dial reflects lights falling on it, giving stunning views.

The 12-hour counter is located at 9 o'clock, while the 30-minute chronograph counter is located at 3 O'clock. The continuous second counter is also equipped with lumes in the dark to show the watch is working properly at the 6 o'clock hour mark. The date semi-dial has the same color as the dial and is located at 4 o'clock.

The trendy green dial is expected to be included on several watches over the coming years. This timepiece is housed in a 43.6mm x 15.2mm black ceramic case that has been satin-brushed and incorporated with the green ceramic bezel and dial.

The Strap

This timepiece has a black textile strap with a pin buckle that is branded with the Blancpain logo.

On the underside, a new addition on the strap is the handmade rubber with a logo on it. Blancpain allows you to choose the color of the strap when you purchase the timepiece. The two choices available are a black NATO or a sail canvas strap.

Crown and Push Buttons

This Blancpain chronograph is a flyback timepiece, meaning that you can reset all the indications with just a push of the lower reset button. The upper push button allows you to stop and resume the second’s hand.

The spin button crown can be used to waterproof the timepiece while diving and to set the date.

The Underside

The F385 caliber movement visible through the transparent sapphire crystal case back features a vertical clutch and a chronograph mechanism controlled by a column wheel. The balance wheel with the silicon hairspring oscillates at 36,000 A/h to enable every second to be divided into 1/10th intervals.

This Blancpain is available and sold at $17,200.

Another model similar to this is the desert-themed model, which has a sandy beige-colored dial and bezel. It also comes with a sandy-colored canvas strap.

This timepiece is just a smaller version of the historic Fifty Fathoms but with massive improvements such as a high-frequency flyback chronograph, water-resistance up to 300 meters, and a whole new look with the green dial and bezel.

Since Jacques Fiechterin designed the Fifty Fathoms in the 1950s, it has been refined in modern times, making this latest update bolder and unique.
